What is provided in the Initial Report and Assessment?

 The Initial Report will provide you with an introduction to your family history in Limerick. We will carry out a search for the baptism of your ancestor, those of possible siblings and the marriage record of his or her parents. Generally what is provided in the Initial Report are the details of the marriage and issue of the immediate generation being sought, subject to the availability of church and civil records.

We will then carry out extensive searches for additional family records in Limerick to determine where your ancestors lived and what may have happened to them. Church and civil records of births, deaths and marriages will be searched for possible earlier and later generations of the family. To add to this picture, we will look for family members in census returns, property valuation records, gravestone inscriptions and other relevant ancillary sources.
 
A detailed Assessment Report will outline what searches were conducted, explain what further information is available and quote accordingly for further research.

We can carry out a search for a baptismal or marriage record throughout the parish records of Limerick city and county up to 1900.

We can also carry out searches for death records and 1901 Census records.

The aim of the Family Search Report is to locate the baptismal record of your ancestor, those of brothers and sisters and the marriage record of his/her parents. Please note, in order to carry out this research, we would require the name of your ancestor and those of both parents. A lack of, or incorrect information can lead to an unsuccessful or inconclusive search so we would ask that you please complete the application form carefully. Please feel free to provide additional information by email or post if there is not enough room on the application form.

It is the policy of Limerick Genealogy not to take on research unless it is felt that there is enough information available to make the family search viable. Every effort will be made to trace the family through the various sources but we cannot guarantee the presence of your ancestor due to the limitations of the available records in Limerick. Please be patient with receiving results as research by its very nature is time consuming and every client’s application for research involves an individual and in-depth study.
