Limerick Genealogy offers you a number of commissioned research options which aim to meet your specific needs.
1. Generally in this report, we provide details on one generation of the family (marriage and issue) and a full assessment of what further records are available. It is suitable for those at both ends of the spectrum in their research;
- Those who have limited knowledge of their family history in Limerick and would like a full picture outlined by an experienced researcher.
- Those who have compiled a lot of information but wish to fill in any gaps through a complete assessment of extant records.

What is provided in the Initial Report and Assessment?
The Initial Report will provide you with an introduction to your family history in Limerick. We will carry out a search for the baptism of your ancestor, those of possible siblings and the marriage record of his or her parents. Generally what is provided in the Initial Report are the details of the marriage and issue of the immediate generation being sought, subject to the availability of church and civil records.
We will then carry out extensive searches for additional family records in Limerick to determine where your ancestors lived and what may have happened to them. Church and civil records of births, deaths and marriages will be searched for possible earlier and later generations of the family. To add to this picture, we will look for family members in census returns, property valuation records, gravestone inscriptions and other relevant ancillary sources.
A detailed Assessment Report will outline what searches were conducted, explain what further information is available and quote accordingly for further research.
Extracts from a typical Initial Report and Assessment from Limerick Genealogy:
"From research, it was possible to locate the marriage record of your great grandfather, John Ryan and the baptismal records of five children born to him in Limerick...."
"We have found the remaining members of the Ryan family living in a townland in south west county Limerick in the 1901 Census but by the time of the 1911 Census, there was no one of that name present in the same townland. A copy of the 1901 Census return outlining details on each member of the household can be provided."
Please note:
The research and compiled report will take more than one working day to complete. A database of over one million records will be used to carry out the various searches for your family but to compile an accurate and professional report, it is necessary to check the indexes and copies of original records. All research is carried out in a step-by-step approach as one record leads us to another and gradually a picture of your family history develops.
All research carried out is based on the details provided in your application form. A lack of, or incorrect information can lead to an unsuccessful or inconclusive search so we would ask that you please complete the application form carefully. Please feel free to provide additional information by email or post if there is not enough room on the application form.
It is the policy of Limerick Genealogy not to take on research unless it is felt that there is enough information available to make the family search viable. Every effort will be made to trace the family through the various sources but we cannot guarantee the presence of your ancestor due to the limitations of genealogical records in Limerick.
Please be patient with receiving results as research by its very nature is time consuming and every client’s application for research involves an individual and in-depth study. Please email us for an indication of current turnaround times for completed research.
